Cal Poly Pomona's College of Environmental Design (ENV for short), offers many undergraduate and graduate degrees which include architecture, landscape architecture, urban and regional planning; undergraduate degrees visual communication design and art history; and a graduate degree in regenerative studies. The college also operates the University's two professional galleries, the W. Keith & Janet Kellogg University Art Gallery and the Don B. Huntley Gallery; the Neutra VDL House, designated a National Historic Landmark; and the ENV Archives-Special Collections.
Long story short, a new logo for the college and some ENV "swag" along with it was needed.
A professor from the art department reached out to myself and two other classmates to complete this job.
Our initial instinct was to start sketching out some ideas.
After a round of reviewing the drafts with the professor, we decided Heajung's logo was the best fit for our department.
We were given the option to choose what the logo would go on, and thought a tote bag and notebook would work best.
These mockups are from the courtesy of Heajung.
Because I found this project exciting and wanted to continue working on it myself, I decided to pay the ENV department's main building a visit and took some pictures.
Seeing all the sculptures and beautiful scenery inspired me, so I decided to work on it further just for kicks and develop
my own logo and mockups focused on the Brutalist contours of the building and environment.
